Ostend breathes art and culture, both indoors and outdoors. The free outdoor arts festivals Beaufort and The Crystal Ship, with impressive artworks and façade paintings, have transformed Ostend into Belgium's largest open-air gallery.
Evidence of this can be found, among others, in the brand-new experience museum next to the original Ensor house and in Mu.ZEE which, in addition to original works by local grandmasters such as Spilliaert, Ensor and Permeke, houses numerous contemporary artworks and exhibitions. Cultural houses such as De Grote Post and Kaap are also very popular and are just a small selection of the countless cultural attractions in the city of Ostend.
